November 9th, Yates House

On November 9th, we were back at the Yates house on Wilson and Victor street in Houston's historic 4th ward.

Preparations were being made for the refurbishing of the top plates and ultimately the roof and we laid several new plywood floor boards down to make that task easier. Two wheel-bins of debris were removed as well as several collapsed ceiling boards to make way for the work to be completed.

A big thanks to everyone that showed up!

Welcome to Rite Bayou, a Houston-based group with the aim to make contributing and volunteering to community projects as simple and easy as possible!

When I first arrived in Houston I attempted to volunteer for various community projects and found that many were either non-responsive, were constrained with red tape or required "donations" in order to be able to get involved.
Renovations in the historic 4th ward

The purpose of this group is to arrange and publicize simple and easy to engage activities taking place in the Houston area, whether it be volunteering for the renovation of historic community buildings, running "trash-tag" litter picking groups or helping Houstonians as  "Street Pastors" in the evenings.

Time is our most precious resource; whether you have 2 days or 2 hours to give, there's a way to help!

Going forward, we'll be posting details of upcoming community events, please don't hesitate to get in touch if you think you can assist!
